If there was a 0 I would rate them 0 over all, I have had the worst experience with this company! First of all, it took weeks to get my website up on there server, then in the middle of the the year I started having problems uploading to the server again. Once again, my website was down for about a week and a half. I then canceled my account and a year later they billed me for another year. When I called them they said they would refund me, I have been calling them for months now and each time they say they have refunded my credit card but I have yet to see a refund. DO NOT USE DOT 5 HOSTING, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!

I too paid 2 years in advance for a web site for our condo. My time is up in Feb. and I won’t renew. Dot5 is not compatible with Firefox. There are problems on top of problems. I don’t know how they were in the top 10 discount web hosts.
Does anyone know of a good web host?

HINT: Don’t contact the chat people. They know nothing. Call the techs directly. At least they can be somewhat helpful sometimes.

I did not think there was another company as bad as 1and1. I signed up with Host 5 and I canceled almost immediately,as I could not navigate their web building platform , I Contacted host 5 support and was assured that all the information for my credit card was removed from their system and I would not be charged. (They do after all have a 30 day money back guarantee). This month our credit card statement came in and there was two charges combined it exceeds $50.00 . I am still trying to sort things out, I have two domains which I will probably have to pay for , however they are locked in Cyber space because the regulations say you cannot change a domain for 6 months. So once again I fell into a CYBER TRAP ! If I get ripped off for fifty bucks , I am the only one to blame. I should have surfed the net and found out what the reports and reviews say about Host Five. I ended up building my website with go-daady website tonight. MOVIE NETWORKS

Absolutly the worst company I have ever delt with. I have been trying for weeks to cancel the service with no avail. I have spent hours (no lie) on hold, on the phone and their live chat. To this date I have still not talked to anyone. Call sales and they will answer within 2 rings? Can not find an email address on their site. What kind of company is this? I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone regardless the price.

It may be user error, or it may be Dot 5 but since we’re sitting on our butts doing nothing, waiting for Dot 5 to get their act together, we can only assume it’s not user error when our database connection goes down for days at a time and ends us corrupt, time and time again. This company can be very unresponsive at times but once they start responding to your billion e-mails they will stay responsive until the problem is solved or until you decide to give up.

Stay away. Signed up and was promised site would be set up in 24 hours. Two days later, still no luck. Decided to cancel after reading some of these reviews. Cancel process was terrible. Finally got all of my money refunded, but it took several online chats and emails to some of the worst customer service people I’ve ever dealt with. Nice, but not very good or knowledgeable.

I was told that the domain name was already paid for, so I transferred my domain to lunarpages.com (very happy with them). After a day, my site wasn’t working and found out that dot5 had cancelled my domain name (after they told me that the 2 yr domain would be managed thru them). Got my money back and was able to pick up the domain name thru lunar, but still a mess.

Sure, you can get dot5 for $3.95 a month, but you can get lunar for $5/month and it’s so much better

Dot 5 is the worst!! Do yourself a favor, dont even try them, they are that bad. Theres a old saying of “You get what you pay for” , well with Dot 5 you dont even get that, you pay a little and get nothing. Pay a little more and go elsewhere.

UPDATE: My site is up, 3 weeks after I signed up. I had to do the online chat again, reminded the CS that she had promised to get it working 2 weeks before. After 10 minutes of waiting in the chat, she did it! The tool bar still doesn’t load properly. I am getting used to it.

I started an account with dot 5 hosting over a week ago and am very dissatisfied.

For one, my site is not up yet. Their email said it would be 24-48 hours. I am still allowed to work on my ‘temporary’ pages though. Second, the editing page feature is very very sloooooooooooooooooow 🙁 Third, I can only edit pages early in the morning, b/c otherwise the tool bar doesn’t show up at all. Fourth, the tool bar on the top of the editing page doesn’t load properly. I can’t see the words until I point my cursor over them. Fifth, my photos don’t show up on my pages. I don’t know if they uploaded properly or not, but I can’t see them. Maybe this is because my pages are temporary.
Sixth: My email through them doesn’t work either.

I did use the 24 hr chat. I was told there were DNS server ‘issues’ and they apologized for my inconvenience. An apology is one thing, providing real service is another.

I have been on this Dot 5 Service for less than a month and when I set up my emails and began to receive email and attachments, I have gotten at leat 5 cannot forward or even delete some files as corrupted (I was able to read them without a cirus) or Too Large.

It seems they have a bug that if an email is over a certain size (not large in thei day of videos ane photos) it will not properly handle it. They deleted one file for me and then told me to correct the problem wiht an unknown source I should delet the email boxes with the problem and re-create them. This ia a royal pain in the rear when you consider you also have to re-import addresses and create new folders since you loose everything when you delete an mail box and you even loose emails you wanted to keep.

The price was right but I had to make a 2 year committmetn and a year one time payment. Right now I would not do it over again and caution otehrs to look further!!

They have been responsive to my problem but Tech Support does not know why that is happening to the mail boxes!

This problem with the email’s should be enough to knock them out of the Top Ten. Email is a large part of my need for a hosting service!!
