Before you can install WrodPress on your server first you have to make sure that your web hosting plan supports PHP and MySQL, two essential elements needed in order for your WordPress powered web site to function. If you are not sure if your web hosting plan offers this support you can simply call your web hosing provider to find out or you can try to upload a PHP file to your server to see if it works. Installing WordPress with Fantastico Installer.

Many web hosting providers offer you to install WordPress through Fantasctico scripts, along with variety of other blogger platforms, content management systems and need little web design gadgets. The benefit of Installing WordPress or other applications via Fantascito is that it is very quick and literally you can have your website up and running withing 15 minutes.

Installing WordPress without Fantastico Installer.

While some web hosting providers do not offer Fantastico installer, they still may offer you a script to install WordPress. Again installation should be quick and easy. Both through Fantasctico and script installation you will be guided step by step to set up necessary elements like database and database administrator.

If your web hosting provider does not offer neither Fantastico or other script to install your WordPress, but supports PHP and MySQL, you can download and install WordPress by yourself. At www.wordpress.org you can find the latest version of WordPress together with installation instruction. This installation requires you to set up a MySQL database that your WordPress will use to store the data. Also this database should already exist on your server when installing WordPress.

Is it possible to run multiple WordPress sites on one server?

Not only it is possible but many web masters do have multiple installation of WordPress on their server. You can also consider installing so called Multiple User platform of WordPress. But if you plan to run your website let say in two different languages, multiple installation would be your best choice.
