LiquidWeb – The Testimony You Will Not Find On Their Website

Is 3 hours downtime and a sleepless night acceptable when you pay $200 for a dedicated web hosting? I do not think so. Especially if the trust of the people who might use your service is on the line. I sure hope LiquidWeb gives Mark a good explanation. I will be following the story and will post soon if I hear anything new. For now enjoy the video below and think twice if you should trust LiquidWeb:

I am suffering down time too. That said, if you read the explanation from them, it’s due to factors outside of their own. As a techie, I really cannot understand why people expect the impossible. What would YOU do against natural disasters?

I won’t give them a hard time because I figure it’s something out of their hands.
Damaging testimony like this is simply unacceptable and you should be thankful they were so kind to you.

Maybe you can post the web host that never had downtime over time, instead of calling people morons. Maybe you can explain the technical skill necessary to prevent natural disasters or fiber cuts. I’ve only been online for 8 years so I’d be willing to listen to an intelligent discussion.

Speaking of google/etc, even the major sites go through this and certainly would should something major take place such as DDOS attacks/etc. Jeez…

You come off as a baby who should be thankful you are not being sued lol

I hate to see 45n5 down, for any length of time, but at least Travis gets an A for effort for coming here to make a public reply. I bet many other hosting companies would never do that.

BTW, Vlad, I like this site, found you on Bumpzee.

    thanks for the post

the best liquidweb can do is say we do offer a refund.

a refund doesn’t help much when your site is down for 3 hours and the customer service is lousy. the entire point of my video.

We have had a server with LW before , it was supposed to be a managed server with a backup drive.
After around 8 months, once we notified them that there were several problems from customers who could not login and stuff like that .
After taking 1 day to check , they came back saying – we are sorry but the hdd has become irrecoverable and needs to be formatted .
Since it was managed, we mentioned that OK so please fix it soon . After 6-7 days and several emails , nothing happened every time one excuse after another . Then they mentioned that the backup harddrive was not functioning so backup of the sites could not be taken. After that it was the Plesk people was also not helping them and it was a control panel issue.
Amazingly even when they made us lose several of our clients, they started calling and demanding why we had stopped paying they bills.
Certainly not a good experience for us. 🙁

As you know, this outage was covered by our SLA uptime guarantee, so the time that you were down will be multiplied by 10, so your 3 hour downtime has resulted in a 30 hour refund for your service. In regards to the outage. I’d like to point out that this outage was not within the Liquid Web network and did not effect all of our customers. Here is what has happened. Michigan had severe winter weather which included high winds. This caused a tree to fall on a Level3 fiber connection in Jackson, Michigan. While our connections were re-routed to Chicago, Saginaw and other areas around our fiber ring, some of our customers received longer than average wait times. For some customers this took up to 3 hours to resolve completely.

While we do have a 100% uptime guarantee, multiple redundant Internet connections, on site staff 24x7x365 and N+1 redundancy for power systems, it is impossible for any web hosting provider to absolutely guarantee that nothing will ever happen.

I would be happy to discuss this with anyone directly. Thank you,
