On an average we receive three e-mails every week from our visitors asking why can’t they upload .htaccess file to their websites on Yahoo! Small Business Web Hosting?
The simple answer to this question is that Yahoo! simply does not allow to do that. Here is how they explain it in their help section:
…htaccess refers to the main configuration file for Apache, a popular open-source HTTP server. The .htaccess file can be used to create custom error pages and web page redirects, set up password protection, enable SSI, and more. Yahoo! does not currently allow you to upload .htaccess files to your account. For other customization options, we recommend the Custom Error Pages and password-protection features available in your Web Hosting Control Panel.
Whether you like it or not there is not much you can do about it, besides hoping that Yahoo! will eventually change this part of their policy and begins to allow access to .htaccess files.
This of course can pose certain problems if you need advance control to implement re-write rules or enable certain redirects.

I have recently came across the video on YouTube explaining how you can install WordPress on Bluehost using SimpleScripts. I hope you can use this tutorial and write your first blog post 6 minutes from now.
Today almost every web hosting provider offers support for PHP. However if you do not know for sure if your web host offers PHP, there is very easy way to find out.
With your favorite text editor (such as Notepad) create a new document then copy and paste following line of code into the document you have just created:
<?php phpinfo(); ?>
Save the file and name it phpinfo.php and upload it via FTP to the root for your domain. Then point your browser to that file (should be something like www.yourdomain.com/phpinfo.php).
If your web host offers PHP your browser should open a page that will tell you the version of PHP as well as some configuration info.
If your browser opens a blank page your web host may not be offering support for PHP or it is not enable for your particular account. You should then call your web hosting provider to find out for sure.

It certainly looks that way. According to Webmaster Central Blog web hosting providers can begin to use Google’s API for such purpose. Evidently several of the web hosing providers are already on board: iPOWER, StartLogic, PowWeb, and Strato.
The first web hosting provider to ever offer this sort of thing was Go Daddy.
Using the Google Webmaster Tools can be very beneficial in your efforts to make your website more visible on Google. It provides some very important statistics along with potential problems a website may have that may prevent it from being regularly crawled and indexed.
