Been with Powweb since 2001. Hosting was great until [business] changes were made within the last year or 2. For the last 6 months, my site has been plagued with problems that have progressively gotten worse. MySQL databases are so slow at that moment ( >200 seconds to render a page) that it is not possible to navigate my site. Support has not acknowledged any problem until an uprising of users on their forums. Thankfully this is just a personal homepage - if you are hosting something business-critical, stay far away.

The hosting service isn't anything to brag about. There is certainly better out there. Where PowWeb falls short is it's customer service. If you ever have a problem it is a nightmare trying to get it resolved.
If you can believe I was actually locked out of my site. I could not access the control panel to make changes or do any uploads. I called and found out they did some modifications and changed the passwords on my account. I was told I was emailed the new password, however I had recently moved to another state and changed isp's. I never got this email from them. I could not get the new password since I could not remember the last 4 numbers on the credit that I used when I established my account (six years ago.) I had other issues with PowWeb over the years, like having them completely delete my site. I lost everything, including some pictures that I had no back-ups of. I learned a valuable lesson here. But changing my account password? I figured this was the final straw! I decided to look for a new host and pulled my site off of PowWeb and then contaced them to cancel my PowWeb account. I had email as well as call customer support to request account cancellation. When they did their "changes" they removed the "auto-renew" option" from the Control Panel account manager, which is also b.s. I fought with them for 5 days attempting to cancel my account. Only when I told them that I was filing a complaint with the BBB, did I get them to cancel my account, and I am still not sure that they did.
From my experience I would have to say, DO NOT do business with PowWeb! Spare yourself the agony that I went through.
